Katherine Strother, 2012-2013 Chair of the
Goose Creek Association Board of Directors, presented the 2012 Golden Goose
Award to Bill and Jeri Jackson, owners of Tri-County Feeds, Etc. (TCFE) located
in Marshall, Virginia. The Golden
Goose Award is given for going above and beyond to promote conservation and
preservation. For the past six
years it has been presented annually to deserving recipients in Fauquier and
Loudoun counties.
Bill Jackson accepted the award on behalf of
the Jacksons. Creekside, the home
of Gregg Ryan, was the site of the award ceremony.
In January of 2011 TCFE, specializing in equine
and equestrian products, partnered with McCauley Feeds to manufacture a
high-quality, nutritious line of horse feeds in environmentally sound
packaging. In addition, Bill and
Jeri Jackson committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of
these feeds to the Goose Creek Association and the Piedmont Environmental
Council.
“Often people doubt that they can make a
difference—dismissing any effort as just a drop in the bucket. We saw the bigger picture—we saw all of
those drops filling the bucket,” said Bill Jackson, president of TCFE. He continued, “In nine months we have
sold 34,643 bags of our new feed in environmentally supportive packaging—that’s
one big bucket—eliminating the same number of poly-woven
bags that never biodegrade from the landfills.”
Complementing the new feed bags—TCFE proudly
offers reusable totes for their customers. This continues TCFE’s commitment to protecting the
environment. A portion of the
proceeds from the sale of the reusable totes goes to the Goose Creek
Association and the Piedmont Environmental Council.
