Trailer Safety Seminar - September 23, 2012


Appomattox Mezzanine, Virginia Horse Center, 1-4 pm

Professionals from Blue Ridge Trailers and their extension agent partners will speak about safety issues, new products, and accident prevention from 1-3 pm and then participants will go to the front parking lot to practice what they have learned as well as get the chance to use new equipment and practice as a team with friends and family.  The seminar is $20 per person in advance and $25 the day of the program.

Ask the Trainer Seminar on March 13

On Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 6:45 – 8:30pm the Currituck County Center of NC Cooperative Extension will be hosting a seminar on “Ask the Professional Trainer, Questions and Answers” conducted by Robyn Lynn. The program will be live from NC State through a program called Elluminate.

Summer Fling Dressage/Pas de Deux Challenge
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, witness the beauty of the sport of dressage. Free to spectators. On Saturday, 5-8 p.m., is the Pas de Deux, often called “ballet on horseback,” a musical routine for two horses and riders. Gen. adm. $5, ages 8 and under free. VIP seating with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar, $75.

Moonlight Trail Ride*

Internationally acclaimed equestrian and coach returns to Morven Park to conduct a 3-day riding/jumping clinic. Three skill levels offered, two hours each day. $600.

August 22 USHJA Clinic at Fox Pointe Farm w/Julie Winkel

Fox Point Farm, Quinton, VA - August 22- 2011 Clinic with USEF Medal finals judge, Hunter Breeding Finals, and Pony Finals Judge Julie Winkel. Julie Winkel is an R USEF judge, as well as a CEF judge. She has held a license since 1984, and judged all the most prestigious shows in the country, including Devon, Harrisburg, Washington International, The National Horse Show, Capital Challenge, The Hampton Classic, Upperville, Wellington, Pony Finals & Hunter Breeding Finals. She has designed courses and judged the New England Equitation Finals, the ASPCA Maclay Finals, as well as the USEF Medal Finals (2010 with George Morris).

Julie Winkel is on the Board Of Directors and the planning committee for USHJA, serves as co-chair of the officials committee, sit on the Emerging Athletes Committee, Equitation Committee, Trainer Certification Program Committee. Besides judging, she gives clinics throughout the country and writes a monthly column for PRACTICAL HORSEMAN'S "Conformation Clinic."

Dressage Clinic with Nicki Vogel June 11


Turkey Hill Stables located in Woodville, VA, is sponsoring a dressage clinic with Nicki Vogel on June 11, 2011. Nicki is a traditionalist who believes that dressage is the foundation for all horses no matter what discipline the horse and rider are pursuing. She is classically trained and has competed internationally. Turkey Hill Stables will be offering private Fix-A-Test rides and private traditional sessions with Nicki. Sessions will focus on raising your test scores and helping to develop your test riding skills. Virginia Appaloosa Horse Club Green Horse/Young Horse Groundwork Clinic

VaApHC will be hosting a Green Horse/Young Horse Groundwork Clinic on April 9th with John Sanford at his farm in Locust Dale, VA.   The clinic will run from about 9am - 5pm with a couple of breaks and lunch.  Drinks and snacks will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.  This is a wonderful opportunity to get our young or green horses out, around other horses and learning with the help and guidance of our own local natural horsemanship instructor.  John comes highly recommended from member Roxanna and Martha, who have used him for their young/green horses and he has done a great job.  John is the author of "Colt Starting" & "Beyond Green Broke."  Clinic cost for members will be $100/day/horse and "rider"; $25/day for auditor.  Non-members will be $110/day/horse & rider; $30/day for auditor.
