Annual "SNOW IN JUNE" Trail Ride, June 10-12, 2011

Registration deadline June 4, 2011 Location: Bull Pasture Mountain Ranch, McDowell, VA

Ride the high country without leaving Virginia!! Located in scenic Highland County, VA. We  are less than 2 hours from Charlottesville and an hour from Harrisonburg. Bring your camera, our views are breathtaking!!  Experience the spirit of the West, stars so close it feels like you could touch them, trails and views that keep getting better with each turn of the trail!  A portion of the proceeds will go to McDowell Volunteer Fire Department. Hope to see you there!!  More information at: http://www.bullpasturemountainranch.com/events.php

All trails are self guided, ride at your own pace, for as long as you’d like!  Trails are well marked with ribbons, with separate rides for each day.  Prior to the beginning of each ride, your host will tell you about the trail and what to expect.  You may “mix & match” your rides to suit your skill and endurance level on Saturday.  All times are given at a pleasure pace.  We encourage you to take time to enjoy the spectacular views!  Our trails have received rave reviews! Enjoy all that this beautiful ranch and Mother Nature have to offer!

Friday, enjoy a short (2-3 hour) ride, followed by an authentic cowboy dinner at the “Cook Shack”, then sit back and enjoy the tall tales and friendship around the campfire.

Saturday will start with a hearty breakfast, and then it’s out on the trail for panoramic views from the ridges, beautifully maintained wooded trails and wildlife galore on trails that are not open to the public, except for this ride!  There is a short (2-3 hour) and a long (5-5 1/2 hr) ride.  Lunch is provided on the trail.  After your ride, share in the gorgeous sunset view from the ranch house porch or participate in an obstacle course on your horse in the main arena. There is always the possibility of an evening horsemanship demonstration. Once again, as night falls, the campfire will bring out the opportunity to share in the experience of the day, forge new friendships and share in the cowboy spirit.

Sunday morning you’ll enjoy a full brunch before riding out on your choice of trails once again.  You’ll have the opportunity to explore the views from Jesus Knob, try a new trail, or ride one of your favorites!
There are several options for camping – from primitive field camping (“Leach Field”), beautiful wooded campsites, complete with 12’x12’ wooden corrals (“The Campsite”), parking with electric hookups (“The Barn”), camping beside or in the private corrals or pastures for your horse(s).  For those not wishing to rough it – there are rustic cabins available, as well as two guest rooms in the main ranch house.  There’s plenty of room for you to set up electric pens or a picket line.  We also have stalls, corrals and pastures available for your horses.  The pastures are suitable for groups of horses that are accustomed to pasturing together and will be “private use” pastures for your horse(s) only.  If you prefer, there are stalls available in our modern, well kept barn.

Meals included – Friday dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Sunday full brunch.  Drinks and snacks provided throughout the weekend in the evenings.

Shower & restroom facilities are available Port-a-potties and outhouses are in each camp area.  Dogs are welcome on a leash and not permitted on the trail.
